BAKER SET TO ACT ON ANNUAL BUDGET

[Coverage Developing] It's deadline day for Gov. Charlie Baker, who must act on the $40.2 billion fiscal 2018 budget that the Legislature sent to his desk on July 7. Baker plans to talk about his budget choices during a 3:30 p.m. media availability.

Baker put new employer assessments on the table in January and the Legislature agreed to the assessments as a new method of paying the state's rising health care tab. But when the state's budget picture deteriorated in the spring, Baker matched the assessments with proposed MassHealth reforms, which were not adopted by the Legislature.
