LANE, RAMP OPENINGS SEEN AS MILESTONES IN SPRINGFIELD HIGHWAY PROJECT
Nearly two years after implementing lane and ramp closures to begin replacing the elevated deck of the I-91 Viaduct in Springfield, officials said Monday that crews this week are opening an additional lane on I-91 southbound along with several ramps that have been closed since December 2015.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said Monday the changes are occurring ahead of schedule, and prior to the Thanksgiving travel period, under its $148 million contract with JF White-Schiavone.
