STATE HOUSE, BOSTON, OCT. 11, 2017.....Attorney Thomas Barbar grew up in West Roxbury regularly visiting with his grandparents, who lived a couple streets over and having dim sum with his father, who ran a textile business in Chinatown.
"I probably learned more from my parents and grandparents to prepare me for this position than I did in law school," Barbar said Wednesday as he made his case to be confirmed for a judgeship on the Middlesex Probate and Family Court.
A graduate of Boston Latin School, Villanova University and New England Law, Barbar was an associate at the Law Office of Diane J. Capozzoli for three years before going into solo practice from 1997 to 2004. In 2007, Barbar became a principal at Deutsch Williams Brooks DeRensis & Holland with the Family Law Department, concentrating on probate and domestic relations, according to the law firm's bio page.
