TEN PRESIDENT PORTRAITS MOVED AHEAD OF SENATE RENOVATION

By Sam Doran

STATE HOUSE NEWS SERVICE

STATE HOUSE, BOSTON, APRIL 19, 2017....Before a major renovation project pushes current senators out of their chamber, the images of recent former Senate Presidents Robert Travaglini, Thomas Birmingham, William Bulger, Kevin Harrington and Maurice Donahue have been temporarily evacuated and given a more public space.

Portraits that have long hung in the Senate Reading Room have been hung on the walls of a well-traveled hallway outside the fourth-floor entrance to Senate President Stanley Rosenberg's office. The portraits are now located steps from the State House cafe, around the corner from the State House press gallery, and near Room 428, one of two locations - along with Gardner Auditorium - where the Senate plans to hold sessions during the renovations.
