While Beacon Hill points its collective finger at the partisan sniping and stimulus bill failures in Washington, it's ironically $1.8 billion in federal funds that are backstopping the $45.5 billion state budget proposal that will occupy the Legislature's attention over the next several weeks. "It's our hope that we'll get this back before Thanksgiving," Gov. Charlie Baker said Wednesday as he submitted to the Legislature a new version of the fiscal 2021 budget that he first filed back in January.
