Senate Session Summary - Monday, Sept. 20

Monday's Senate session laid the groundwork for a formal session planned for Thursday, with senators placing on the agenda for that session bills involving sex education curriculum, nonbinary gender identification and student nutrition that the Senate Ways and Means Committee recommended last week. One bill, similar to legislation passed by the Senate in 2019, would allow people over 18 or the parents of a minor to change the sex listed on a birth record to a nonbinary "X" option as well as male or female. - Colin A.
