The Senate disagreed Tuesday with House changes to its hen living standards bill (S 2481), non-concurring in the amendment (H 4194) tacked on by representatives last week that added a delay in the voter-approved restriction on cruel confinement of pigs. The Senate opted to settle the inter-branch differences with closed-door talks and tapped Sens. Jason Lewis of Winchester, Becca Rausch of Needham, and Bruce Tarr of Gloucester as its negotiators.
