House Session Summary - Thursday, Aug. 4

The House kicked off an easygoing August with aplomb Thursday, advancing local bills affecting Bridgewater, Plainville and Shrewsbury in a nine-minute informal session that clocked in 21 hours and 58 minutes shorter than the marathon Sunday-into-Monday affair to close out formal business for the term. Representatives also sent a pair of alcohol license bills back to the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee, but did not address any other topics Thursday, setting the tone for effectively a summer recess during which lawmakers will vacation, focus on their reelection campaigns, and perhaps prepare bills for action during sessions after the Sept. 6 primary elections.
