Three senators made it into the Senate Chamber on a gloomy, wet day on Beacon Hill Thursday, enacting four local bills and a bill that will add new regulations for green communities, if signed by the governor. Under the green communities bill, any town or city served by a municipal light plant that serves multiple municipalities will have to add new renewable energy regulations, among other requirements, to be permitted to qualify as a green community.
