FACING PROGRESSIVE PUSH, DeLEO SAYS DEMS ARE INCLUSIVE

By Andy Metzger

STATE HOUSE NEWS SERVICE

STATE HOUSE, BOSTON, JUNE 5, 2017...Criticized last week for allegedly not being attuned to policy interests of many Democrats, House Speaker Robert DeLeo said Monday he values the inclusive nature of the party in Massachusetts.

"I think fortunately we've been a party of people of many different views. And that's important," DeLeo told the News Service when asked if the party platform influences his leadership of the House. "We're an inclusive party of people of all views, so I think that's a good place to be and that's why I'm proud to be a Democrat."
